Social activist, educator and one of the Little Rock Nine, Minnijean Brown Trickey will present “Return to Little Rock” for the Women’s Society annual Adele Starbird Lecture at 11 a.m. April 11 in Graham Chapel. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the event that made Brown Trickey part of American history.

Cancer recurrence is a hard subject to face. In fact, the return of cancer can be more frightening than the initial diagnosis, says Teresa DeShields, a psychologist at the Siteman Cancer Center. This difficult topic is being discussed more among cancer patients and their physicians since the recent revelation of cancer recurrence in Elizabeth Edwards, wife of presidential hopeful John Edwards.

David Mutch named president-elect of gynecologic oncologist society

David G. Mutch, the Ira C. and Judith Gall Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been named President-Elect II of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists. The society is a national medical specialty organization of physicians who are trained in the comprehensive management of women with malignancies of the reproductive tract.
