StanleySamuel L. Stanley Jr., M.D., a professor of medicine and of molecular microbiology at Washington University in St. Louis, has been appointed the university’s new vice chancellor for research. The announcement of Stanley’s appointment was made by Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton, and is effective July 1, 2006.

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center and Washington University School of Medicine proudly announce the opening of the new Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital. Together, the three organizations will bring world-class cancer care to St. Charles County.

MaconesGeorge A. Macones, M.D., M.S.C.E., has been named head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Elaine and Mitchell Yanow Professor at the School of Medicine. Macones will replace James R. Schreiber, M.D., who has served as head of obstetrics and gynecology since 1991.

To recognize its new mission and name and to show appreciation, the center will host a ceremony and celebration Sept. 2.
