Washington University in St. Louis has made a $25,000 contribution in support of Proposition R, an initiative that will appear on the ballot in an Aug. 3 special election in the city of St. Louis, as well as Franklin, Jefferson and St. Louis counties.

Anna Gonzalez, vice president for student affairs and dean of students at Harvey Mudd College, has been appointed vice chancellor for student affairs at Washington University, effective July 1, according to Chancellor Andrew D. Martin.

With an aim to be bold, transformative and collaborative, Washington University has officially begun its strategic planning process to develop a roadmap that will guide the university’s future over the next decade.

Shantay Bolton, vice president and deputy chief operating officer at Tulane University, has been appointed executive vice chancellor for administration and chief administrative officer at Washington University in St. Louis, effective July 1, according to Chancellor Andrew D. Martin.

Stephanie L. Reel, most recently chief information officer for all divisions of the Johns Hopkins University and Health System, has been appointed interim chief information officer at Washington University, according to Chancellor Andrew. D. Martin. Reel will serve in the role while the university conducts a national search for a permanent CIO.

Washington University has begun a process to examine public safety and policing on the Danforth Campus and in nearby neighborhoods. As an important first step, a committee comprising students, faculty, staff and alumni has been formed to lead this critical work.

Washington University will conduct a national search for its next vice chancellor for student affairs, beginning this fall. The new vice chancellor will succeed Lori S. White, who left the university July 1 to become president of DePauw University. 

A search committee comprising faculty and administrators will begin its work to identify candidates to succeed Henry S. Webber, who will transition to the newly created role of executive vice chancellor for civic affairs and strategic planning.
