Electric car charging station driven partly by sun​​

The electric car charging station in front of Brauer and Whitaker halls on the Washington University in St. Louis campus is now getting a boost from the sun after workers installed solar panels atop the structure July 30. In addition to bolstering the university’s commitment to sustainability, the station is connected to research in its School of Engineering & Applied Science.​

Emre Toker appointed managing director of Skandalaris Center​​

Emre Toker has been appointed managing director of the Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. Toker most recently served as entrepreneurship senior mentor-in-residence at the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management. The appointment is effective Aug. 15, according to H. Holden Thorp, PhD, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs.​

A nu​mber of operations at Washington University in St. Louis will experience disruptions as the 34th annual Fair Saint Louis​ takes place Thursday through Saturday, July 3-5, in Forest Park.​​​

Jennifer Lodge appointed vice chancellor for research​

Jennifer K. Lodge, PhD, associate dean for research and professor of molecular microbiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been appointed vice chancellor for research for the university, according to Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton; Larry J. Shapiro, MD, executive vice chancellor for medical affairs and dean of the School of Medicine; and H. Holden Thorp, PhD, university provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs.

LaTanya Buck appointed director of new Center for Diversity and Inclusion​

​​​LaTanya N. Buck, most recently director of the Cross Cultural Center at Saint Louis University, has been appointed director of the newly created Center for Diversity and Inclusion at Washington University in St. Louis. Holden Thorp, PhD, university provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, and Sharon Stahl, vice chancellor for students, made the announcement.
