Poet, dancer, activist and educator Janice Mirikitani will present the keynote address on Wednesday evening at the universitywide Day of Discovery & Dialogue. To inspire thought within our community ahead of her talk, here she offers a few insights into how we think about identity and class, and what we can learn from each other.

The Washington University community will come together to reflect upon its efforts to become a more diverse and inclusive community at its third annual Day of Discovery & Dialogue, to be held Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 22 and 23.

Today, Washington University in St. Louis announced the conclusion of an investigation into a Dec. 14, 2016 complaint submitted by the university’s women’s soccer team. Following is a statement from Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Lori White addressing this matter.

Washington University and its partner universities in Greater China came together in Shanghai on Jan. 21 for a major conference, the “Forum for Greater China: An Aging Population.” The goal of the conference was to stimulate collaborative research and conversation that will advance solutions to the challenges posed by China’s aging population.

Washington University is among 30 of the nation’s most respected colleges and universities to join forces in a new initiative to substantially expand the number of talented low- and moderate-income students who attend America’s top-performing undergraduate institutions with the highest graduation rates.

Kimberly G. Walker, chief investment officer at Washington University Investment Management Company (WUIMC), will step down from her position effective Dec. 31, according to David W. Kemper, chairman of the board of directors of WUIMC.

On behalf of the university, Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton has joined other presidents and chancellors in urging federal elected and government officials to preserve — and even expand — the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. We will be a strong advocate for the continuation of DACA, should any proposals or changes to existing policy move forward.
