Washington University Libraries adds Frank Marshall Davis Collection
Washington University Libraries’ Film & Media Archive has partnered with the University of Hawaii-West Oahu to preserve and digitize an interview with African-American poet and journalist Frank Marshall Davis. Also preserved were photographs, news clippings and poetry readings by Davis, which along with the interview make up the Frank Marshall Davis Collection, a new addition to the holdings of the Film & Media Archive.

Twenty-six staff members retired from WUSTL this past year, and each received a commendation from Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton and a walnut plaque featuring the University seal and the number of years of his or her service.

Washington University Libraries has received a $376,426 National Leadership Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services for “The St. Louis Freedom Suits Legal Encoding Project” — one of the largest grants ever received by the University Libraries.

New green roof at Washington University promotes sustainability, adds green space
Photo by Joe AngelesThe green roof on the South 40 House.An environmentally friendly “green roof” — containing grass, native plants and approximately 110,000 pounds of soil — opened last week at the South 40 House on Washington University in St. Louis’ Danforth Campus. The new roof helps the university conserve energy and water and provides additional gathering space for students.
