The WUSTL Energy Awareness Committee is offering faculty, staff and students the opportunity to celebrate Earth Day with a volunteer event at Tyson Research Center from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, April 24. Volunteers will be asked to assist with the restoration of a glade, a native habitat in Missouri, at Tyson.

Ryan Anderson, a second-year medical student and president of the class, was one of 30 medical students nationwide to receive the American Medical Association Foundation’s 2010 Leadership Award. Robert Salisbury, PhD, professor emeritus of political science in Arts & Sciences and an expert on how lobbyists and interest groups work inside the Beltway, died April 9, 2010. He was 79.

TIAA-CREF and Vanguard will offer free financial education seminars April 13-15 on the Danforth and Medical School campuses for WUSTL faculty and staff. Topics include budget and debt management, determining net worth, managing credit, creating a spending plan, saving for retirement, asset allocation and understanding different types of investments.

For many WUSTL students, faculty and staff, Metro provides an environmentally friendly and economical commute to campus, work and social events. St. Louis County voters will decide April 6 whether to pass Proposition A, which calls for a half-cent sales tax increase to support public transportation in the St. Louis area.
