Virginia Tech shooting survivor to speak for Ready Week
Kristina Anderson, a survivor of the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting, will be the featured speaker for Ready Week, which will take place Sept. 16-20 and is organized by the Washington University in St. Louis Emergency Management Department. Ready Week will emphasize the importance of tuning in, learning more, looking around and taking action through interactive events and presentations.
General counsel’s office honored by Legal Services of Eastern Missouri
The university’s Office of the Vice Chancellor and General Counsel is this year’s recipient of the Gerald R. Ortbals Law Practice Award from Legal Services of Eastern Missouri. The office and other honorees will be recognized during an awards luncheon Aug. 16.
Sue and Jerry Schlichter receive Harris Award
To honor their support of the St. Louis community, Sue and Jerry Schlichter are the 2019 recipients of the Jane and Whitney Harris St. Louis Community Service Award. Each year, a married couple is selected to receive this award.

Eliot Society members come together to honor university’s achievements
The William Greenleaf Eliot Society held its 52nd annual dinner April 18 at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in honor of Washington University’s group of committed supporters. Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton also presented the Search Award to Life Trustee Andrew C. Taylor.
Women’s Society recognizes students with awards, scholarships
The Women’s Society of Washington University presented the Harriet K. Switzer Leadership Award and the Elizabeth Gray Danforth Scholarships to four deserving students at their annual membership meeting in April.
