
Alumna Jazzy Danziger, AB ’07, received the 2012 Brittingham Prize in Poetry for her book, Darkroom (University of Wisconsin Press, 2012). Danziger wrote Darkroom primarily in St. Louis, with many poems written during her time at Washington University. Her work contains glimpses of the city in poems like “Earthquake in Wabash Valley,” where “streetlamps rattle in Missouri-wet lanes” and “black coal barges ride southward on the river.” Previously, Danziger was a Henry Hoyns/Poe-Faulkner Fellow in poetry at the University of Virginia.
