Catherine Keane, associate professor and director of graduate studies of classics in Arts & Sciences, recently presented a discussion, “The Frank, the Friendly, and the Fictional: Speech in the Fragments of Lucilius’ Satires” at Williams College in Massachusetts. During her talk, Keane examined the fragmentary “Satires” of Lucilius, who is credited with inventing the Roman genre of verse satire.
Also in March, Keane gave a presentation titled “Intertextuality between Friends: Martial and Juvenal in Epigram 12.18” at the 112th annual meeting of the Classical Association of the Middle West and South meeting in Williamsburg, Va.
