Kudos to several designers with ties to the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts for their contributions to the 2012 Venice International Architecture Biennale, one of the most significant exhibitions in international contemporary architecture. Each event draws thousands of the world’s most influential architects, designers, urban planners, developers and critics to Italy to showcase ideas and debate critical issues of their field.
Peter MacKeith, associate dean of the Sam Fox School and associate professor of architecture, curated the Nordic Pavilion, Light Houses: On the Nordic Common Ground, in its entirety. An authority on Nordic architectural culture, MacKeith’s exhibition showcased conceptual models demonstrating Nordic ideals of “light-ness” and “house-ness,” as interpreted by 32 leading architects from Finland, Norway and Sweden.
