Bauer Leaders Academy offers programs to build leadership skills
The George and Carol Bauer Leaders Academy is offering new opportunities for WashU students to build their skills as leaders. The programs are open to all students regardless of their role on campus or career goals.
Elbow injury to get closer look aided by machine learning
Spencer Lake, at the McKelvey School of Engineering, will study the effects of physical therapy and anti-inflammatory treatments on elbow injuries with a $2.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The Engaged City initiative to launch
This fall, WashU will launch The Engaged City. Building on the long-running Divided City initiative, and funded in part by a $500,000 grant from the Mellon Foundation, The Engaged City aims to highlight St. Louis’ cultural resources.

John Cooper, MD, PhD, the Alan A. and Edith L. Wolfe Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at WashU Medicine, has been elected a fellow of the American Society for Cell Biology.
Leslie Paige, a graduate student in Arts & Sciences, is using geospatial tools to map the habitat of the Javan slow loris, a critically endangered primate. She presented her work at the Geo-Resolution conference in St. Louis.
East entrance to Central West End Metro station to temporarily close
The east entrance and walkway connecting the Central West End MetroLink station platform with bus bays at the transit center, near the Medical Campus, will temporarily close at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17. They will reopen Monday, Oct. 21.
