Siteman to welcome first patients in new building
Siteman Cancer Center, based at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and WashU Medicine, is set to open a new nine-story building Sept. 30 on the Medical Campus. The state-of-the-art structure will be dedicated exclusively to outpatient cancer care.
NSF grant to fund faculty equity programs, new center
WashU will receive a $3 million federal grant to address systemic barriers to gender and racial equity for STEM faculty. The funding will launch a new center focused on civic mindfulness to drive organizational change.
New leader of business services named
James Dwyer has been named vice chancellor for university business services at WashU, announced Nichol Luoma, executive vice chancellor for administration. He previously worked at Arizona State University.

Sandro Galea, MD, DrPH, dean designate of the planned School of Public Health at WashU, has been named editor in chief of JAMA Health Forum, effective Jan. 1.
Rebecca Messbarger, in Arts & Sciences, is among the organizers of a symposium on “The Catholic Enlightenment in Europe, the Americas and Australia (1700-1840),” which will take place Sept. 20 and 21. Other faculty also are speaking.
New event series to launch
The Faculty Senate Council and the Office of the Provost at WashU are seeking faculty proposals for a series of campus events intended to promote understanding and productive discourse around complex topics. The deadline is Sept. 30.
