Study sheds light on why parasite makes TB infections worse​​​

Scientists at the School of Medicine have shown how a parasitic worm infection common in the developing world increases susceptibility to tuberculosis (TB). The study demonstrated that treating the parasite reduces lung damage seen in mice that also are infected with tuberculosis, thereby eliminating the vulnerability to TB that the parasite is known to cause.

ISP welcomes eight faculty fellows

The Institute for School Partnership (ISP) has eight new members in its Faculty Fellows program. The program brings together professors from a wide range of disciplines and honors and supports faculty research and work on behalf of K-12 education. The newest members hail from Arts & Sciences, the Brown School and the School of Engineering & Applied Science.

Women’s soccer to host NCAA sectional this weekend

Washington University has been selected to host the 2015 NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Sectional on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 21-22, at Francis Field. The Bears face Wartburg College in the opening game at 11 a.m. Saturday.
