Chemist Alexander Barnes, PhD, of Arts & Sciences, is working with colleagues to design a drug that could flush out HIV hidden in the chromosomes of cells. That work is aided by a $2.3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop a novel nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer that can determine the structure of molecules very quickly and at room temperature.
