The arrangement makes it simpler for parent visits. While in high school, Sean Clarke (left) had no idea where he wanted to attend college. But he didn’t want to follow his brothers to Washington University. Yet a campus visit changed his mind, and now he’s a freshman here, joining brothers Matt Smith, a junior, and Julian Clarke, a senior.

Andrew J. White, MD, director of the Division of Pediatric Rheumatology at the School of Medicine, has been named the James P. Keating, MD, Professor of Pediatrics. White also directs the pediatric residency program at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Xinyu (David) Song, a doctoral student in biomedical engineering in the School of Engineering & Applied Science, won $100,000 in a student health-care technology competition. Song is working to design a user-friendly hearing test for use in doctors’ offices.
