Gordon to receive Keio Medical Science Prize​

Jeffrey I. Gordon, MD, the Dr. Robert J. Glaser Distinguished University Professor at the School of Medicine, is a recipient of the 2015 Keio Medical Science Prize. The prize recognizes scientists who have made outstanding and creative contributions to medicine or the life sciences for the benefit of humankind.​​​​​​​​​​​​​

WashU Expert: Senate criminal justice reform bill falls short of needed changes

A bipartisan group of U.S. senators announced legislation last week that would overhaul the country’s criminal justice system, giving judges more leeway in sentencing and reducing sentences for some nonviolent offenders. Carrie Pettus-Davis, PhD, an expert on criminal justice system reform at the Brown School, says the bill doesn’t go far enough.

Obituary: Lisa Simone, 25, doctoral student in physical therapy

Lisa Cristine Simone, 25, a doctoral candidate in the Program in Physical Therapy at the School of Medicine, died unexpectedly Sept. 29, 2015, in St. Louis. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Valley Park.

Flags lowered to half-staff in memory of shooting victims

The U.S. and university flags over Brookings Hall are lowered to half-staff until sunset today as a mark of respect for those killed in the Oct. 1 shooting at the Umpqua Community College in Oregon.
