A task force created last fall at Washington University to study issues of sexual assault and relationship violence has completed its work and is recommending a number of measures that aim to create a supportive, respectful campus environment where sexual assault is a rare occurrence.

James V. Wertsch, PhD, founding director of one of the most successful and innovative global scholarship programs in the world, has been named the inaugural David R. Francis Distinguished Professor. Wertsch is vice chancellor for international affairs and director of the McDonnell International Scholars Academy.

With a new $7.3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), a team of lung transplant surgeons and researchers at the School of Medicine is investigating the immunological basis of lung transplant rejection, with the aim of improving the long-term outlook for patients.

The Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts and the Saint Louis Art Museum have selected Andréa Stanislav as the 2015-16 Henry L. and Natalie E. Freund Teaching Fellow. Also, the inaugural Freund Visiting Artist Lecture, by award-winning designer Natasha Jen, will take place Monday, Sept. 28.
