The university’s Steering Committee for Diversity & Inclusion, led by Nancy Staudt, JD, PhD, dean of the School of Law, has wrapped up its work and issued a report and recommendations. As a result, a Commission on Diversity & Inclusion is being established, and the chair will be Vice Provost Adrienne Davis, JD. The university community is invited to an Oct. 9 forum to discuss the report.

Amy Eyler, PhD, assistant professor at the Brown School, will use the school’s newly opened Hillman Hall as a laboratory. She is conducting a yearlong study aimed at quantifying the impact of the building’s many innovative features on the well-being of those who work there.

David A. Hunstad, MD, associate professor of pediatrics, has been named director of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the School of Medicine. A School of Medicine graduate, Hunstad previously served as director of the pediatric infectious diseases fellowship program and co-founded the Pediatric Physician-Scientist Training Program.

While the economy has rebounded, the recent market upheaval in China, and the resulting ripple effects felt globally, raised concerns. Jennifer Dlugosz, PhD, of Olin Business School, says the Fed’s decision yesterday to hold rates steady buys more time to gauge global markets’ strength, and possible volatility, should a rate hike occur in the near future.
