The number of uninsured people in America dropped by 8.8 million in 2014, according to a report yesterday from the U.S. Census Bureau. Health economist Timothy McBride, PhD, says it’s the first census report since widespread implementation of the Affordable Care Act. McBride, of the Brown School, says the report shows the law is working.

Global Health Week is a multidisciplinary event organized by students to focus on health-care issues around the world. Activities are planned on both the Danforth and Medical campuses. The week kicks off with a 5K race on Sunday, Sept. 20. On Friday, Sept. 25, participants can hear keynote speaker Peter Jay Hotez, MD, PhD, who researches tropical diseases.
