Burns delivers call to action to Class of 2015

Acclaimed filmmaker and historian Ken Burns delivered a sobering call to action to the university’s Class of 2015. He challenged graduates to teach the country how to set things right again in remarks Friday to about 15,000 people gathered in Brookings Quadrangle for the 154th Commencement ceremony.

Washington People: ‘Most hated person on campus’ among those honored at Staff Day

Sead Ademovic jokes that no one likes the ticket monitor, but he plays an important role on the Danforth Campus. Ademovic is among more than 230 veteran employees who will be recognized today at Staff Day. Staff can celebrate their colleagues at 10 a.m. at Edison Theatre, enjoy lunch at Bowles Plaza and participate in fun activities ranging from bingo to yoga.

Antiviral compound may protect brain from pathogens, West Nile virus study shows

Studying West Nile virus infection in mice, scientists at the School of Medicine have shown that an antiviral compound tightens the blood-brain barrier, making it harder for the virus to invade the brain.
