David M. Holtzman, MD, an expert in Alzheimer’s research, and Paul Michael Lützeler, PhD, an authority on German literature, will receive the 2015 faculty achievement awards, Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton announced. Lan Yang, PhD, known for her nanophotonics research, will receive the innovation and entrepreneurship award.

Carrie Pettus-Davis, PhD, of the Brown School, has been tapped to serve as executive director for the research initiative of a new public, private and academic partnership. The Concordance Academy of Leadership aims to reduce incarceration rates in the United States.

The School of Medicine and the Brown School have received a $4 million grant to study whether a new model of providing family planning services can reduce unintended pregnancies and births. As part of the study, they are recruiting 10,000 women of child-bearing age in the St. Louis area to participate.

“Rotation 1: Contemporary Art from the Peter Norton Gift” opens tomorrow, May 1, at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum. The exhibition will be the first chance to view highlights from a major recent gift. Also opening that evening will be the “2015 MFA Thesis Exhibition,” which features projects by graduating Sam Fox students.
