Washington University will award five honorary degrees during the 154th Commencement May 15. Award-winning filmmaker Ken Burns, one of the recipients, will give the Commencement address. The university will bestow academic degrees on approximately 2,800 members of the Class of 2015.

Stephen Johnston, co-founder of Aging 2.0, will give the annual Friedman Lecture on Wednesday, April 22, in Knight Hall. The lecture, “Better Living Through Innovation: Responding to an Aging Society,” is the signature event of the Friedman Center for Aging, part of the Institute for Public Health.

Timothy M. Miller, MD, PhD, a leading researcher in the neurodegenerative disorder amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), has been named the David Clayson Professor of Neurology at the School of Medicine. The professorship was established in 2001 through a bequest from David Clayson, PhD, to support innovative research into treatments for ALS.
