The Teaching Center is ramping up its efforts and programs on inclusive teaching and learning. One goal is to better engage, include and challenge all students. The effort includes workshops, a faculty fellowship and a faculty institute.

Following a four-month rigorous training and selection process among 46 exceptional applications to the Bear Cub Challenge, the top applicants have received grants. The top awards went to teams working on a blood substitute and on a fast, accurate hearing test.

An inaugural exhibit of images by scientists, titled “Research as Art,” was held earlier this month. Included were eerie landscapes created by vortices in superfluids, smeared false-color data from satellite-borne instruments, and many more colorful images. Organizers hope the exhibit becomes an annual WashU tradition.
