New Ebola study points to potential drug target

Opening the door for potential treatments for the deadly Ebola virus, scientists at the School of Medicine and elsewhere have found a way to kill the virus by interfering with its replication. The study appears in Cell Reports.

Relay For Life steps off at Francis Field tomorrow

The 13th Relay For Life, the annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society at Washington University, begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 11, and runs until 6 a.m. Sunday, April 12. Highlights include performances from Mama’s Pot Roast and WU Sauce and games such as tug of war and dodgeball. In the past 12 years, WashU’s Relay For Life has raised $2 million to fight cancer.

Young talents join WashU Choirs, Symphony Orchestra for Chancellor’s Concert

Soprano Kate Reimann, a co-founder of Gateway Opera, and tenor Keith Boyer, named Best Male Opera Singer for 2014 by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, will join the Washington University Symphony Orchestra and Choirs for the annual Chancellor’s Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 12, in the 560 Music Center.

McCaskill holds campus roundtable on aging

As part of her series of Senior Listening Sessions across Missouri, U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill held a roundtable discussion with experts on retirement security, elder justice and healthy aging March 31 at the Brown School’s Goldfarb Hall. Among the roundtable participants were seven from Washington University.
