Janice Cantieri, a senior in Arts & Sciences, traveled to Kiribati, an island nation in the Pacific Ocean, as a student fellow for the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. She found and shared the stories of a resilient community working to combat rising sea levels. She and others will share their work at the Undergraduate Research Symposium on Friday, April 17.

An Institute of Medicine committee has released guidelines to the Food and Drug Administration on using agent-based models to improve the effect of tobacco control policy on public health. The committee included the Brown School’s Douglas A. Luke, PhD, professor and director of the Center for Public Health Systems Science.

You might think the demands of medical school would be enough. Yet for a decade, students on the Medical Campus have found time to produce, direct and star in an annual musical. This year, students present “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” at 8 p.m Thursday through Saturday, April 16-18, in the Olin Residence Hall Gym on the Medical Campus.

Roger J. Phillips, PhD, a scientist at the Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colo., and director emeritus of the McDonnell Center for the Space Sciences, will deliver the McDonnell Distinguished Lecture at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 15. The lecture, “No Denying Climate Change on Mars,” will be in Room 100 of Whitaker Hall.

This year’s Fair Saint Louis will be held Thursday through Saturday, July 2-4, in Forest Park. The university is again providing access to some campus parking areas during the fair, so employees and students should be aware and plan for alternate arrangements.
