A reformulation of OxyContin (left) that makes it less likely to be abused than the older formulation (right) has curtailed the drug’s illicit use. But researchers at the School of Medicine have found that a significant percentage still abuse the drug despite package labeling that emphasizes its abuse-deterrent properties.

Archaeologist Fiona Marshall, PhD, of the Department of Anthropology in Arts & Sciences, was installed as the James W. and Jean L. Davis Professor last month in Holmes Lounge. The professorship is named in tribute to the Davises’ lifelong contributions to Washington University.

Michael Sherraden, PhD, helped mark Singapore’s 50th anniversary as an independent nation with a lecture last week at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Sherraden is director of the Center for Social Development at the Brown School and of the Next Age Institute, a McDonnell Academy partnership between the university and NUS.

The Skandalaris Center for Interdisciplinary Innovation and Entrepreneurship will host the student debate team for a special event Wednesday, March 25. The students will debate the topic “Resolved: Research Universities Should Encourage Entrepreneurial Activity by Students and Faculty” at 5:30 p.m. in Umrath Lounge on the Danforth Campus.
