Mental health soon after war-zone concussions predicts disability, researchers find

Evaluating military personnel with blast-related mild traumatic brain injuries, researchers have found that early symptoms of post-traumatic stress, such as anxiety, emotional numbness, flashbacks and irritability, are the strongest predictors of later disability. The School of Medicine led the study.

ISP helps teacher tackle fifth-grade science

Teacher Kandace Ortiz made the transition last fall from teaching kindergarten to teaching fifth grade in the Jennings School District. And the Institute for School Partnership’s MySci program helped her do so with confidence — and engage her students in hands-on science learning.

Pappu named Murty Professor of Engineering

Rohit V. Pappu, PhD, has been named the Edwin H. Murty Professor of Engineering in the School of Engineering & Applied Science. Pappu, who was installed Monday, focuses his research on the form, functions and self-associations of intrinsically disordered proteins.
