15 students selected to attend CGI U

Washington University is sending 15 students to this year’s Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U), which begins Friday, March 6, at the University of Miami. One student idea is an urban farming project that connects university students to new immigrants. WashU hosted the event in 2013.

Study shows who benefits most from statins

New research suggests that widely used statin therapy provides the most benefit to patients with the highest genetic risk of heart attack. Using a relatively straightforward genetic analysis, the researchers, including Nathan O. Stitziel, MD, PhD, assessed heart attack risk independently of the traditional risk factors.

Wiland named director of Institutional Research and Analysis

Lisa Wiland has been appointed director of Institutional Research and Analysis for the Office of the Provost. She has served as associate director of the institutional research office since its formation in January 2013.

Legomsky testifies before Congress about immigration

Stephen H. Legomsky, JD, testified recently on Capitol Hill, defending the legality of President Barack Obama’s recent executive actions on immigration. He previously served as chief counsel of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Men’s, women’s basketball host NCAA opening round

The madness of March arrives on campus this week as both the men’s and women’s basketball teams host opening-round games of the 2015 NCAA Division III championship tournament. The men’s team plays first, hosting DePauw University at 8 p.m. tonight at the Field House.
