Guided by the immune system, researchers led by the School of Medicine’s Jeffrey I. Gordon, MD, have identified types of gut bacteria in young children in Malawi that are linked to nutritional health. The bacteria have diagnostic and therapeutic implications for childhood undernutrition.

Two new laws in St. Louis will expand housing options for Section 8 renters in the city. The measures were influenced by recent research from Molly Metzger, PhD, of the Brown School’s Center for Social Development. She says Section 8 renters often find landlords are unwilling to accept their vouchers as payment.

The Battle of the Boot shoe drive is underway, pitting Washington University against others in the region to raise money for water wells in impoverished countries. Hosted by the Solea Water Project, the shoe drive also includes Fontbonne University, University of Missouri-St. Louis and Saint Louis University.
