Bobick named dean of School of Engineering & Applied Science

Aaron Bobick, PhD, professor and founding chair of the School of Interactive Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology, has been appointed dean of the School of Engineering & Applied Science, effective July 1, according to Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton.

Camel, alpaca antibodies target anticancer viruses directly to tumors

Using antibodies from camels and alpacas, scientists at the School of Medicine have found a way to deliver anticancer viruses directly to tumor cells, leaving other types of cells uninfected. The research appears in Molecular Therapy—Oncolytics.

Next cohort of Professional Leadership Academy & Network announced

The 2015 Professional Leadership Academy & Network (PLAN) includes 24 staff members. The yearlong professional development program is intended to cultivate future university leaders, aiming to strengthen their leadership skills and knowledge of the university and to help them develop a greater understanding of an ever-changing, multicultural world.

The King’s Singers to perform Saturday

Since 1968, the United States has been represented by 28 secretaries of state. But only 25 vocalists have had the chops to call themselves King’s Singers. At 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, the celebrated British ensemble will bring its peerless polyphony to the 560 Music Center.

Emergency communication system to be tested Feb. 26

Washington University will test its emergency communication system, WUSTLAlerts, at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26. The test will take place unless there is the potential for severe weather or another emergency at that time.
