Schaal, PhD, dean of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences, has been elected president-elect of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world’s largest general scientific society. She begins her three-year term as an officer and member of the association’s Board of Directors’ Executive Committee on Feb. 17.
