Arts & Sciences grants support classroom innovation

This spring, students in Ignacio Infante’s “World-Wide Translation: Language, Culture, Technology” will help create positive experiences for critically ill children visiting St. Louis. The work is made possible in part by an Arts & Sciences grant designed to support engaging and transformative classroom experiences.

Possible treatments identified for highly contagious stomach virus

Antibiotics aren’t supposed to be effective against viruses. But new evidence in mice suggests they may help fight norovirus, a highly contagious virus that causes severe gastrointestinal illness, scientists at the School of Medicine report.

Sam Durant exhibit opens tomorrow at Kemper

“Sam Durant: Proposal for White and Indian Dead Monument Transpositions, Washington, D.C.” opens Friday, Jan. 23, at the Kemper Art Museum. The large-scale installation consists of 30 minimalist sculptures, each appropriating the form of an existing monument to white and Indian victims killed between the 17th century and the end of the so-called Indian Wars in 1890.

2015 Sports Hall of Fame class announced

Washington University, in conjunction with its athletic support organization, the W Club, has announced its 15th induction class for the university’s Sports Hall of Fame. Induction ceremonies will be held Feb. 20.
