This spring, students in Ignacio Infante’s “World-Wide Translation: Language, Culture, Technology” will help create positive experiences for critically ill children visiting St. Louis. The work is made possible in part by an Arts & Sciences grant designed to support engaging and transformative classroom experiences.

Grants will provide funding for innovative research projects and programs at Washington University that aim not only to explore the underlying causes of the difficult issues the St. Louis region faces, but also to seek and implement long-term, sustainable solutions.

“Sam Durant: Proposal for White and Indian Dead Monument Transpositions, Washington, D.C.” opens Friday, Jan. 23, at the Kemper Art Museum. The large-scale installation consists of 30 minimalist sculptures, each appropriating the form of an existing monument to white and Indian victims killed between the 17th century and the end of the so-called Indian Wars in 1890.
