Mosaic Project concludes, but work continues

For the past year and a half, dedicated students, faculty and staff have come together through the Mosaic Project to help move Washington University toward a more inclusive campus community. Now, as this initiative is concluding, the efforts of the eight Mosaic Project working groups are taking root.

Why scratching makes you itch more

Turns out Mom was right: Scratching an itch only makes it worse. New research from scientists at the School of Medicine’s Center for the Study of Itch reveals that scratching causes the brain to release serotonin, which intensifies the itch sensation.

The legacy of Sam and Betty

​Known to generations of students, Sam Lachterman and his sister, Betty Wynn, gave a gift in their will to support the Assembly Series and other university programs. Part of the gift helped fund this weekend’s shows at Edison Theatre featuring Ira Glass, of radio program “This American Life.”

Law students get firsthand experience in influential Delaware court system

To truly understand corporate law in America, one’s study must go through Delaware, long the favored state of incorporations for U.S. businesses. Washington University law students annually get a firsthand look at how these important courts operate through the eyes of Delaware judges such as Randy J. Holland, who recently taught a class on campus.
