Heart drug may help treat ALS, mouse study shows

Digoxin, a medication that has been used to treat heart failure, may be adaptable for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive, paralyzing disease, new research from the School of Medicine suggests.

Ira Glass, of ‘This American Life,’ visits Edison this weekend

You know the voice, but do you know the dance moves? On Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 1 and 2, Ira Glass, host and executive producer of the “This American Life” radio program, will join Monica Bill Barnes & Company for “Three Acts, Two Dancers, One Radio Host” as part of the Edison Ovations Series.

Walk through buildings from your own device

The School of Engineering’s Yasutaka Furukawa, PhD, combines 3-D computer vision of indoor scenes with the capabilities of Google Maps and Google Earth to create a unique, high-resolution, photorealistic mapping experience of indoor spaces. Though he is starting with spaces such as The Frick Collection in New York, he intends to bring his technology to the Danforth Campus.
