The Peacock Loop Diner debuted last weekend. It’s part of the $80 million Lofts of Washington University, which also features apartments for 400 students and the United Provisions grocery store. Owner Joe Edwards says the diner transforms the Delmar Loop into a 24-7 neighborhood.

Ross C. Brownson, PhD, a leading expert in chronic disease prevention and applied epidemiology at Washington University, was installed as the Bernard Becker Professor in a ceremony last week. Brownson holds joint appointments at the Brown School and the School of Medicine.

The U.S. Treasury Department has awarded a $1 million research contract to the Brown School’s Center for Social Development. The project will investigate messages about, and interest in, opening “My Retirement Accounts” online at tax time to determine what works best with consumers.
