Alumnus wins Nobel Prize in chemistry

W.E. Moerner, PhD, a Washington University alumnus, has been awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry, along with two other scientists. They received the award for developing super-resolved fluorescence microscopy. He earned bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering, mathematics and physics here in 1975.

University helps bring Pipeline to St. Louis

The university has helped bring the Pipeline Entrepreneurial Fellowship to St. Louis. Dedric Carter, PhD, associate vice chancellor for innovation and entrepreneurship, says Wash U is proud to help rising entrepreneurial stars connect. Now, qualified St. Louisans can apply to be Pipeline Fellows.

Treatment study seeks African-Americans with asthma

Doctors at the School of Medicine are seeking African-Americans with asthma to participate in a new study evaluating treatment for this common breathing disorder. African-Americans have disproportionately high rates of the condition and may not respond as well to standard treatments.

STL To Do: ‘Documented’ at History Museum​

LaTanya Buck, director of the university’s Center for Diversity and Inclusion, recommends seeing “Documented,” a film examining immigration in America, tonight at the Missouri History Museum. A discussion will follow.

The Master of Fine Arts program in Arts & Sciences is starting a creative nonfiction track. Student applications to begin studies in the fall 2015 semester are due Dec. 15.
