Childhood brain tumor risk factors identified

Older parents, birth defects, maternal nutrition and childhood exposure to CT scans and pesticides are increasingly being associated with brain tumors in children, according to new research led by Kimberly Johnson, PhD, assistant professor at the Brown School.

Film series offers window on Middle East

If you’ve ever wanted to know more about the Middle East, here’s a chance to delve into the culture without even leaving campus. Through Nov. 17, the Department of Jewish, Islamic and Near Eastern Languages and Cultures in Arts & Sciences is holding the annual Middle East-North African Fall Film Series. The next film, “The Band’s Visit,” will be shown Monday, Oct. 13.
