Neuroscientist Hart demystifies science of drug addiction for Assembly Series

Neuroscientist Carl Hart, PhD, will deliver “Demystifying the Science of Drug Addiction: Neuroscience, Self-discovery, Race and U.S. Drug Policy” at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, in Anheuser-Busch Hall for the Assembly Series. This is the annual Chancellor’s Fellows Lecture.

Skandalaris Center to present inaugural Dutia-Grewal Global Impact Award

Presented by the Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, the Suren G. Dutia and Jas K. Grewal Global Impact Award was established last year in the belief that technology can solve real-world problems by giving entrepreneurs tools to foster innovation. ​Judges will select the first recipient from a field of six finalists at a reception Monday, Oct. 6.​​

Gass celebrates 90th birthday with special reading

Friends and fans of celebrated author William H. Gass, PhD, gathered last weekend in Umrath Hall Lounge to mark his 90th birthday with a special reading from his works. Gass is the David L. May Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the Humanities in Arts & Sciences. University Libraries sponsored the reading, “Passages of Time.”

Technology center in School of Engineering changes name

The Center for the Application of Information Technology in the School of Engineering & Applied Science, which helps train technical professionals, has a new name: the Professional Education Technology & Leadership Center. A new website and registration system is launching, and the center is moving this fall to Lopata Hall on the Danforth Campus.
