Study sheds light on asthma, respiratory viruses

A new study led by Michael J. Holtzman, MD, at the School of Medicine, suggests that a fundamental antiviral defense mechanism is intact in asthma. This indicates that another aspect of the immune system must explain the difficulty people with asthma have when they encounter respiratory viruses.

Stahl to retire as vice chancellor for students

Sharon Stahl, PhD, vice chancellor for students and longtime adviser and mentor to undergraduates in the College of Arts & Sciences, announced that she will retire at the end of this academic year, June 30, according to Provost H. Holden Thorp, PhD.

Endecott named managing director of EMBA Program in KC

Linda Endecott has been hired as managing director of Olin Business School Executive MBA Program in Kansas City. Endecott will lead the university’s efforts to continue the expansion, momentum and reputation of its EMBA program, offered in Kansas City since 2010.

Flags to be lowered in remembrance of 9/11

The university will pause today to remember the lives lost in the terror attacks of Sept. 11. The university and U.S. flags will be lowered to half-staff, and the chimes in Graham Chapel will toll at 9:28 a.m., the time the World Trade Center’s North Tower collapsed.
