Elaine R. Mardis, PhD, and Richard K. Wilson, PhD, both renowned for discoveries in the field of genomics, have been named to endowed professorships. Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton (far left), and Larry J. Shapiro, MD, dean of the School of Medicine (far right), installed them.

Brookings descendant visits campus

A descendant of Robert S. Brookings, John Wallace, visited WUSTL last week. Here, Wallace, Brookings’ great-grandnephew, and his wife, Ellen (right), talk with Tenille Washburn (JD ’01), a student in the Brookings Executive Education program. Brookings was president of WUSTL’s board from 1895-1928, and he established the Brookings Institution in Washington.

Group to host HIV awareness event Thursday

In recognition of National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day, a youth leadership program of Project ARK and The SPOT will host an open-mic event to encourage young people to talk about HIV/AIDS and sexual health. The Youth Advocacy Committee will host the event at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Blank Space.

Boyle ramp from Highway 40 closed through mid-May

The Missouri Department of Transportation closed the ramp from westbound Interstate 64/Highway 40 to Boyle Avenue on Monday, April 7. The ramp is expected to reopen by mid-May.
