Maine becomes first state to provide college savings for all newborns

The state of Maine yesterday became the first in the United States to make college savings for newborns universal and automatic. It’s putting into practice research pioneered by Michael Sherraden, PhD, director of the Brown School’s Center for Social Development.

Bierut named Alumni Endowed Professor of Psychiatry

Laura Jean Bierut, MD, has been named the Alumni Endowed Professor of Psychiatry at the School of Medicine. Her work focuses on the genetic and environmental influences that contribute to addiction and other psychiatric disorders.
