NIH award funds research into tiny devices that shine light on brain disorders

To better understand and one day provide improved treatments for depression, addiction and anxiety, School of Medicine researchers are using tiny, electronic devices to identify and map neural circuits in the brain. The work has been awarded a rare grant called EUREKA (Exceptional, Unconventional Research Enabling Knowledge Acceleration), which provides funding for high-risk/high-reward projects.

My Children! My Africa! starts today

Ron Himes, WUSTL alumnus and founder of The Black Rep, leads the cast of My Children! My Africa!, which runs today through Sunday in the A.E. Hotchner Studio Theatre. The play explores the human costs of apartheid in South Africa.

Obituary: Harvey Saligman, longtime trustee, 75

WUSTL Emeritus Trustee Harvey Saligman died Friday, Nov. 15, 2013. He was 75. He established the Harvey and Linda Saligman Multiple Myeloma Research Fund to find new treatments for the deadly blood cancer. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, in Graham Chapel on the Danforth Campus.

Songs for Thanksgiving Sunday

The air chills, the leaves fall, the crops are collected and stored for winter. From India to Estonia, from Holi to Thanksgiving, virtually every culture celebrates the harvest. On Sunday, Nov. 24, the WUSTL Concert Choir and Chamber Choir will honor fall’s bounty with Thanksgiving, featuring music that stretches from Renaissance Italy to contemporary Senegal.
