Nirupama Rao, Indian ambassador to the United States, will speak about U.S. and India relations during a visit to WUSTL. Rao will present the McDonnell International Scholars Academy 2013 S.T. Lee Distinguished Lecture at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, in Simon Hall’s May Auditorium. Rao’s lecture will serve as the capstone to the WUSTL-Indian Institute of Technology Bombay Corporate Conclave.

Although an irregular heartbeat is a common malady in the United States, affecting an estimated 5 million people, the treatments for it are limited in scope and effectiveness. Biomedical engineer Igor Efimov, PhD, is studying a new potential treatment that may be much more effective and less painful for patients.

Valerie S. Ratts, MD, has been named the new associate dean for admissions at the School of Medicine, effective Jan. 1. She replaces W. Edwin Dodson, MD, who is retiring.
