12 students, graduates earn Fulbright scholarships

WUSTL once again has strong representation in the prestigious Fulbright program, with 12 current or recent students earning Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarships to teach English or to conduct research abroad during the 2013-14 academic year.

Search committee named for Ervin Scholars program director

A search committee to identify candidates for the position of director of WUSTL’s prestigious John B. Ervin Scholars Program has been appointed by Sharon Stahl, PhD, vice chancellor for students. The late James E. McLeod, beloved vice chancellor for students and dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, was the only person to have served as director of the program from its inception in 1986 until his death in 2011.

Law school hosts International Law Weekend—Midwest Regional conference

The School of Law will host the International Law Weekend—Midwest Regional conference Sept. 19-21. The theme is “The Legal Challenges of Globalization: A View from the Heartland,” and the panels will address a broad range of topics, emphasizing the impact of international law and globalization on the Midwest.

Washington University Orthopedics is opening a walk-in clinic for joggers, cyclists, high school athletes and weekend warriors who are injured outside of business hours.

Law Dean Syverud named Syracuse University’s next chancellor

Kent D. Syverud, JD, dean of the School of Law and the Ethan A.H. Shepley Distinguished University Professor since 2006, has been selected as the 12th chancellor and president of Syracuse University. He will begin his tenure as chancellor in January.

The STL PREP (Perception, Reality, Engagement and Partnership) orientation series will launch with a welcome reception Thursday, Oct. 3, from 5-7 p.m. at the Moonrise Hotel Rooftop. Interested faculty and staff can bring up to two guests. RSVP here by Sept. 20.

Medical Campus parking lot closing Sept. 27 

The surface parking lot on the Medical Center campus at the corner of Taylor and Parkview avenues will close permanently at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27. The best alternative for School of Medicine employees is the Clayton Garage.
