Nineteen students took part in the Summer Associates Program, which offered WUSTL students on-campus internships and built on classroom learning. Professional development seminars were held on subjects such as networking, interviewing and résumé building. The pilot program may be expanded next year.

This native plant meadow, just northeast of the Athletic Complex, was in full bloom on a recent sunny day. The meadow is one of eight native planting sites and bioswales at the university managed by the Office of Facilities Planning and Management. Native plant areas are hearty, more sustainable and reduce the time and money spent mowing grass.

Semester Online is a first-of-its-kind program offering rigorous online courses for credit from prestigious colleges and universities, including WUSTL. Students can learn more about this program Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 24 and 25. The deadline for applying for Semester Online courses is Monday, Aug. 26.
Sharing With A Purpose (SWAP) is holding a dorm supplies sale from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, on the South 40 basketball court. As part of campus sustainability efforts to divert waste, SWAP collected items discarded by students, but still in good condition, from the Spring 2013 move-out.
Medical Center faculty, staff and students will perform a summer concert Saturday, Aug. 24, in the Center for Advanced Medicine lobby. Free and open to the public, the concert will feature a range of musical genres.
