Newark Mayor Cory Booker to deliver Commencement address

Named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine, Cory A. Booker, the mayor of Newark, N.J., has been selected to give the 2013 Commencement address. The university’s 152nd Commencement ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. May 17 in Brookings Quadrangle.

Cholesterol buildup links atherosclerosis
and macular degeneration

A new study raises the intriguing possibility that drugs prescribed to lower cholesterol may be effective against macular degeneration, a blinding eye disease. School of Medicine researchers have found that age-related macular degeneration shares a common link with atherosclerosis. Both problems have the same underlying defect: the inability to remove a buildup of fat and cholesterol.

WUSTL volunteers pave the way for CGI U large-scale service project

Some 250 WUSTL volunteers recently did prep work, such as priming and taping walls, at Gateway STEM High School. They cleared the way for an even larger undertaking this weekend during the Clinton Global Initiative University. About 800 conference delegates will perform service projects at the school.

More than 100 students to perform at April 7 Chancellor’s Concert

Featuring students from the WUSTL Choirs and WUSTL Symphony Orchestra, the annual Chancellor’s Concert is among the university's largest performances of the year. “American Voices,” the 2013 concert, takes place Sunday, April 7. Nicole Aldrich (shown) will direct the WUSTL Choirs and Steve Jarvi will lead the WUSTL Symphony Orchestra.
