Researchers at the School of Medicine have received a $3 million grant from the National Cancer Institute to develop a triple threat in the fight against cancer: a single virus equipped to find, image and kill cancer cells, all at once.

The economic model of law schools is broken, says Brian Z. Tamanaha, JD, JSD, professor of law and author of the new book, Failing Law Schools. “For the majority of law students,” Tamanaha writes, “the cost of obtaining a law degree and the economic return on a law degree are out of whack.”

The employee 2011-12 U-Pass — allowing WUSTL faculty and staff free use of Metro, the region’s public transportation system — will expire June 30. Benefits-eligible employees may request a new U-Pass for the 2012-13 fiscal year at the Parking & Transportation Services website, parking.wustl.edu/upass.htm. The new pass will be valid through June 30, 2013.

For the second consecutive year, the women’s varsity crew team captured the 4+ race May 26 and 27 at the American Collegiate Rowing Association National Championship Regatta in Gainesville, Ga. Out of 17 boats, the women posted a time of 7:19.4, more than 10 seconds faster than second place Emory University.
