The annual Summer Writers Institute returns for its 17th year with a new, compressed format geared toward working professionals and offering workshops in four genres. It will take place over nine days, from Friday, July 13, through Saturday, July 21, with workshops in fiction; creative nonfiction; flash fiction and prose poetry; and screenplay writing.

During the monthlong celebration, high school seniors who have been admitted can experience tours of campus, room with a current student in a residence hall, sit in on classes and more.

With every meal, immune cells in the intestine stand like sentries at a citadel, turning away harmful bacteria but allowing vitamins and nutrients to pass. Now, researchers at the School of Medicine have identified the cells that chaperone food antigens, or proteins, in the intestine so that the immune system doesn’t mount an attack.
