The common themes and conflicts of modern-day romance can be traced back to medieval times. What is considered “romantic” in contemporary Western society is partly a legacy of themes in medieval romantic poetry, says Jessica Rosenfeld, PhD, assistant professor of English in Arts & Sciences and author of Ethics and Enjoyment in Late Medieval Poetry: Love After Aristotle.

The No. 3 men’s tennis team defeated NCAA Division II Drury University 5-4 Feb. 12 at the Creve Coeur Racquet Club. Junior Gary Parizher clinched the match for the Bears with a 6-3 victory in the third set at No. 3 singles. The Bears are 2-0 this season against Division II institutions.
